Good People. Bad Things.  2025

CFP Course # 338784

Experience proves that not every person operates at the highest levels of ethical decision-making. Every few years, some corner of the financial advice profession seems to be beset with scandal or ongoing debates about issues rooted in ethical concerns. Most financial advisors do not knowingly violate a law or policy, nor do they set out to do so with intent. Ethical researchers point to a slippery slope - large scale ethical lapses start with a small tipping point - a poor choice made under some element of pressure that grows and escalates over time. Exploring how to avoid that first poor choice - that tipping point - is the intent of Good People. Bad Things.

Learning Objectives:

LO1: Discuss how to Understand and recognize behavioral patterns that are frequently connected to the most common types of insurance fraud.

LO 2:  Explore how culture impacts ethical behavior by comparing and contrasting various Ethical Frameworks from divergent countries and professions.
LO 3:  Discuss how external pressures lower the probability of ethical decision making and how to build policies, procedures, and offic
e cultures that counter external pressure.

LO 4: Identify the most common types of insurance fraud.
